At Pedal Suffolk Festival, it’s about more than just the riding.
It’s about the people behind it. The riders, the volunteers, the supporters, and the familiar faces that make the whole experience what it is.
That’s exactly what our new series, Pedal Suffolk Festival Faces, is here to celebrate.
And there’s no better place to start than with Bryan.
98 Years Young and Still Riding
Bryan is 98 years old and still rides his bike.
For most of his life, cycling has been a constant. From riding with Great Yarmouth Cycling Club back in the 1950s to getting out on the roads today, it has always been part of who he is.
For his 98th birthday, Bryan treated himself to a new e-bike. Proof that the love of riding does not fade with time.
A Familiar Face at TPR Events
If you have been to a TPR event, chances are you have seen Bryan.
He is the one waving riders off at the start, welcoming you back across the finish line, or chatting away at a feed stop.
Always smiling, always encouraging, and always part of the atmosphere that makes our events feel so welcoming.
To us, he is Dad and Grandpa.
To many of you, he has become a bit of a grandpa figure too. Someone who makes you feel at ease, whether it is your first event or your fiftieth.
More Than Just a Ride
Bryan is a big part of what makes our events what they are.
Because what he represents sits right at the heart of Pedal Suffolk Festival.
It is not just about distances or times.
It is about being part of something. Being outdoors. Meeting people. Sharing the experience.
Whether you are taking on your first sportive, getting back into cycling, riding your retro bike, or simply looking for a great weekend on two wheels, there is a place for you here.
Everyone’s Welcome
Stories like Bryan’s remind us that cycling is not just for a certain type of rider.
It is for everyone.
It does not matter how far you go or how fast you ride. What matters is getting out there and enjoying it.
That is what Pedal Suffolk Festival is all about.
Join Us This Summer
Pedal Suffolk Festival takes place on June 27th and 28th, bringing together road, retro and gravel riding for a full weekend of cycling.
More than that, it brings together a community.
People like Bryan.
And hopefully, you too.
