The Holkham Trophy is the newest and most exciting addition to the Pedal Norfolk Festival weekend — an evening gravel race set within the stunning and prestigious Holkham Estate.
Riders will tackle a fast, flowing 11km fully contained circuit, completed over 5 laps for a 55km race, delivering thrilling racing in one of the UK’s most spectacular private landscapes. As the first-ever gravel race held within the grounds of Holkham, this is a rare opportunity to race in truly iconic surroundings.
With multiple age and gender categories, the Holkham Trophy is designed to be competitive, inclusive, and accessible — whether you’re chasing the podium or experiencing gravel racing for the first time – no race license required.
The overall male and female winners will lift the inaugural Holkham Trophy, while every finisher receives an exclusive Holkham Trophy medal to commemorate their ride.
To keep riders moving and maximise race-day enjoyment, the circuit features:
- TPR Events feed/hydration station
Mechanical support
Two pit stations — one at Race HQ and one at the far side of the course
- Professional race HQ & finish arena
With world-class scenery, premium race support, and outstanding value, we aim for the Holkham Trophy to become the best-value gravel race in the country.
The Holkham Trophy is part of the Pedal Norfolk Festival, a weekend of cycling celebration. Over 2 days, we will have something for everyone;
- Pedal Norfolk Sportive (Road)
- The Untamed (Gravel)
- The Holkham Trophy Gravel Race

Race Route
Course Character & Flow
This is a fast, flowing gravel circuit rather than a technical survival course. Making it perfect for riders of all abilites and experience levels.
Wide estate gravel roads
Firm hardpack surfaces
Smooth woodland tracks
Open exposed sections across parkland
Minimal tight technical singletrack
The circuit should favour sustained power and positioning rather than technical bike handling, but if it rains, expect some mud!
Wind & Exposure
This is potentially the biggest race factor.
Open estate sections mean:
Crosswinds possible
Gaps can open quickly if riders are poorly positioned
Race dynamics: This course rewards riding smart – riders who understand positioning will gain advantage.
Elevation & Effort Profile
Holkham isn’t mountainous, but don’t mistake flat for easy.
Likely features:
Rolling resistance terrain rather than steep climbing
Draggy false flats that sap legs over repeated laps
Subtle rises that become decisive late in the race
Selection factor: Accumulated fatigue, not punchy climbs.
By lap 4–5, the course will feel significantly harder than lap 1.
Pit & Support
With pit and feed/hydration stations at Race HQ and the far side of the circuit:
- TPR Events Mechanical support & broom wagon available
-
Riders are never far from assistance
-
Quick mechanical resolution reduces DNFs
-
Strategic wheel swaps possible
This is a race-friendly, rider-first setup.
