What is Speed league

A New Kind of Time Trial League

The GYCC Speed League is a fresh collaborative evolution of the GYCC TT League, created to bring new energy to local racing and make time trialling more accessible, rewarding and exciting for more riders. Across six fortnightly Thursday race meetings, your best five results count towards the overall standings… and because points reward progression, anyone can win.

A collaborative initiative between GYCC & TPR Events

Speed League is not just about who is fastest on the night. Its progression-based points system rewards personal improvement, consistency and effort, giving first-timers, club riders and experienced testers all something meaningful to race for. The more you improve, the more points you earn… making every ride count.

How the league works

A simple format, built for progression

Choose Your Category

Start in the category that suits your experience, from first-timers to seasoned testers. Clear groups make it easy to feel comfortable, competitive and ready to race from day one.

Ride the Circuit

Complete 2 laps of a safe, accessible course designed for all abilities. Ride solo or alongside others in a flexible format that keeps racing simple, welcoming and fun.

Track Your Progress

Progress through target average speed levels designed to reward personal improvement and consistency. Move up through clearly defined speed milestones, earn points each time you reach a new level, and track how your development can strengthen your league standing beyond just race position.

Results & Social

Stay after your ride for results, presentations and a relaxed social atmosphere that makes every race night about more than just the ride itself.. Celebrate progress, track league standings, connect with fellow riders and enjoy being part of a welcoming local cycling community built around improvement, support and shared competition.

— Who is it For?

Designed to Welcome Every Type of Rider

The Speed League is designed for a wide range of riders, from those completely new to racing through to experienced time triallists. If you’ve ever been curious about racing but felt unsure where to start, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a go in a supportive, low-pressure environment. With clear categories and a welcoming atmosphere, there’s a place for everyone on the start line.

For more experienced riders, it offers regular, well-organised racing with the chance to push for strong performances, test yourself against others, and build consistency across the season. With clear categories, structured results, and league standings, there’s real depth for those who want to compete seriously. At the same time, the relaxed format and welcoming atmosphere make it an ideal setting for quality midweek efforts without the pressure of traditional racing. Whether you’re chasing faster times, sharpening your form, or simply enjoying competitive riding, the league gives you a reason to come back week after week.

Powered by local riders, clubs, and businesses passionate about growing cycling in our community.

Why Change Tradition?

Reviving local racing for more riders

Local time trialling has always been an important part of the cycling scene… but in recent years, participation has declined and fewer riders are stepping up to the start line.

The Speed League is about evolving with the times… keeping what makes racing great while making it more accessible, welcoming and rewarding for today’s riders.

By removing barriers, supporting progression and creating a clearer path for new and experienced riders alike, the goal is simple… rebuild a stronger, more inclusive local racing community.

Because protecting local racing means helping it evolve.

Ready to Give It a Go?

Whether you’re new to racing or looking for regular midweek competition, there’s a place for you on the start line. Come along, get involved, and be part of something growing in the local cycling community, no pre-registration required.
