TPR Community Spotlight – Glynn White

Welcome to TPR Community Spotlight — a weekly series celebrating the riders who make our events what they are. Every week we’ll be sharing the stories, journeys and motivations of people from our community, showing that cycling is for everyone.

At TPR Events, the riders are what make the events special. Every rider plaqued zip tied to a bike represents a story — and this week’s Community Spotlight is Glynn White.

Glynn didn’t get into cycling because he wanted to improve his fitness or find a new hobby.

He started riding for a friend.

Back in 2013, one of Glynn’s close friends was battling cancer and decided to take on LEJOG, Land’s End to John O’Groats, to raise money for charity. Glynn joined him in training, and what began as support for a friend quickly became something much bigger.

Together, they completed LEJOG, but that was only the beginning.

They went on to ride from East to West across the country and take on the Three Peaks Challenge, raising nearly £10,000 for charity along the way. What started as one challenge turned into a new chapter built around endurance, determination, and a genuine love of being active.

Since then, Glynn has taken on a wide range of personal challenges. Alongside his cycling, he has also completed the London Marathon five times and is already planning to do it again when he turns 70.

For Glynn, cycling has never just been about the bike itself. Over the years, it has become a way to manage the stress of a demanding job, improve his physical health, reset mentally, and stay active for both himself and his family.

Now semi-retired, riding has become an even more important part of life.

He enjoys the simple things that make cycling special. A wave from another rider. The sense of achievement that comes from pushing just outside your comfort zone. The social side of taking part in events like the Tour de Broads. And with a new eRoad bike opening up even more possibilities, there are still plenty of miles ahead.

Asked what his ideal event would look like, Glynn keeps it simple. Right here in Norfolk. Good roads. Good company. And ideally a sunny day with a tailwind all the way round.

Hard to argue with that.

Glynn’s story is a reminder that cycling can begin for one reason, then grow into something that shapes your life in ways you never expected.
