The inaugural Sensational7s raceday was at a dry but very chilly Snetterton on the 300 circuit on the 15th of March 2025. Four brave competitors braved the elements. three Caterham’s, the first fitted with a 1600 cc Sigmax engine, entered by Andy Pointer, one with a Ford Duratec engine, entered by Neil Turner, one with a Rover K-series engine entered by Peter French. The the final car was MK Atomic Cup200 with a motorbike engine, entered by Ben Britten.
After unloading I welcomed all the competitors to the inaugural first Sensational7s series race meeting, the competitors showing their enthusiasm and pleasure for this new series. We also had several visitors along to see what they were missing and they went home motivated to return at the next rounds with their cars. A special mention to Andy Grant you was meant to race with us but is recovering from a fall – speedy recovery and hope to see you soon.
Onto qualifying, as there had been an Open Practice and two qualifying sessions before Sensational7s qualifying the circuit ambient temperature although low was warmer than it would have been for the Open Practice session. Neil Turner qualified first, followed by Ben Britten, followed by Peter French, Andy Pointer rounding off the qualifying session. At that point a very welcome cuppa with a bacon roll or two was very welcome at Sensational7s HQ.
The first race, after a rolling start, developed into a very close contest between Neil and Ben the lead alternating between the two at least once or twice a lap as the different cars played to their strengths on different parts of the circuit. The lead changed for the last time with half a lap to go with Neil just pipping Ben for the win followed by Peter in third place and Andy finding his feet in fourth place. The race between Neil and Ben saw side by side cornering at through Riches, Brundle and Nelson at the end of the Bentley straight and around Coram to the final corner Murrays. By the accounts of the commentator the dice between Neil and Ben was worth the spectators entry fee for the day alone! Well done to both drivers of very different 7s who raced close and hard without any contact. Chapeau to you both!

Onto the second race, unfortunately Neil was unable to resume his competition with Ben as he found an oil leak from the gearbox, which caused Neil to make the decision to retire from the second race. Again, a rolling start, nothing to report in the early stages of the race until Andy caught Peter, due to Peter making a mistake in a corner. Andy kept Peter very honest especially around the twistier parts of the circuit and Andy looked especially quick through Coram until the last few minutes off the race when Andy dropped off the pace, as he had miss calculated the amount of fuel he needed, but Andy managing to get his car home. The result of the second race was Ben in first place, Peter in Second place and Andy in third Place.
