Your daily TdB Abroad Schedule

Here is what you can expect each day at the Tour de Broads Abroad cycling holiday in Mallorca at our half-board 4* hotel in Alcudia. Mallorca is a cycling paradise and how much riding, how far and how fast depends on you. There is also plenty to do and see at and close to the hotel.

On your first day we will arrange a private transfer from the airport to our hotel. There we can help you unpack your bike and prepare it or help you get setup on your hire bike. Depending on the time of day, you may fancy a leg stretch and easy spin before dinner. Let us know are we can arrange something or you can explore a little yourself. Alternatively, the pool or bar may beckon!

So what can you expect everyday? Here is a brief outline to give you a flavour of your week.

Your ride for the day actually starts the day before! Just before dinner, we will publish the following days ride groups and outline routes, elevation and distances on the hotel info boards and our riders WhatsApp group.

Depending on how you feel, how much you plan to celebrate today’s ride tonight and whether you want a longer, shorter, faster, slower more relaxed day, you can make your decision. Maybe alternative long and short days or fast and relaxed days????

This gives you an opportunity to decide on how much to eat/drink/party that evening knowing how far/hard you will be cycling the next day.

Generally, as it is October, our rides assemble at 09.15 for departure at 09.30am, unless otherwise advised. On longer rides we may start at 09.00. That means, a relaxed start to the day with time for a wholesome carb-rich breakfast and plenty of caffeine and fluids!

Each group will have at least one ride Ciclos Major guide, so you have no need for maps. Do take some food/gels, plenty of water, the means/tools to repair a puncture or repair a minor fault, some cash for the coffee and/or lunch stops during the ride, your insurance details and some form of ID.

Darryl and Liz from Ciclos Major and their team of guides lead the rides each day

Helen will be in the support car out and about taking photos and meeting up with us from time to time but she may be with another ride group when you need her so be prepared with simple items like puncture repairs. Neil, John and Pedal Revolution’s Ben will also be riding, usually in different groups, so if you need anything or have any mechanicals they will be on hand and can call Helen if needed for further backup. We will have you covered!

We typically ride for 1 to 2 hours and stop for coffee. Then it’s another hour or two to a lunch stop and similar on the return. We aim to be back at the hotel between 2pm-4.30pm depending on the ride group and route you have chosen. Depending on the mood, we may stop stop at the harbour for group drinks/coffee, soak up the atmosphere and reflect on another brilliant day’s riding! Here today’s hills often get steeper and longer and the pace gets faster 🙂

Your ride leader will ensure the group stays together and no-body gets lost or forgotten! Our guides have excellent local knowledge and will introduce you to some amazing roads and views that are often off the beaten track for most tourists.

Back at the hotel, it’s time to put your bike back into storage for the night. If you detect any problems or niggles then let Ben know so he can check them over for you to ensure your bike is tip- top for the morning. You should then have plenty of time to relax in the hotel pools and facilities, take a sight seeing stroll or browse the Old Town streets and shops before the optional group dinner with some light hearted awards of the day. Then, you better start choosing tomorrows ride!
